Riga, Latvia’s capital on the Baltic Sea, is the natural base for studying the Baltic region’s history, languages, and politics. Latvia regained independence in 1991 and joined the European Union in 2004.
A programme listing describes a Baltic Sea Region Studies master’s sub-programme at the University of Latvia: a two-year, full-time, English-taught master’s. Listings of this kind can go out of date, so prospective students should verify the current programme structure on the university’s official site before applying.
The original version of this article claimed the University of Latvia enrolls over 16,000 students from more than 60 countries and cited a 20 percent enrollment increase and a 90 percent employment rate. Those figures could not be verified and have been removed.
