IACBE Accreditation Candidacy – Opening New Doors for Continents International University Students

Continents International University was granted candidate status by the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) in July 2024. The candidacy period runs through July 31, 2029.

IACBE is a programmatic accreditor for business programs, founded in 1997 and recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Candidacy means the school has met IACBE requirements to prepare for a first accreditation review. The programs are not accredited until the school completes a self-study, undergoes a site visit, and receives a board decision.

Accreditation processes generally ask schools to review their programs against written standards, assess student learning, and document improvements. Schools often use the process to update curricula, clarify learning goals, and strengthen faculty development. These changes can improve the student experience, but candidacy alone does not guarantee any specific result.

Students should read accreditation claims carefully. A candidate is not an accredited school, and the IACBE review covers business programs, not the whole institution. For employment, what matters most remains the graduate’s skills, record, and the employer’s own judgment.
