Studying abroad is linked to stronger academic outcomes. A large University System of Georgia study that tracked more than 220,000 students found that those who studied abroad had higher four-year and six-year graduation rates and slightly higher GPAs than comparable students who stayed home. Study abroad did not delay degrees; if anything, participants finished a little faster.
Short-term programs make the experience accessible. A trip of a few weeks can build language skills, cultural awareness, and confidence without derailing a degree plan. Planning ahead matters: check that credits will transfer, confirm costs, and sort out passports and visas early. A study abroad guide and tips on crafting a strong study abroad application can help.
Funding exists for students who look. The Freeman-ASIA scholarship supports US undergraduates studying in East and Southeast Asia, and the Critical Language Scholarship is a fully funded US government summer program for language study abroad. University aid offices usually know about more.
Continents International University is based in Missouri, United States, and holds candidacy status for accreditation from the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE), granted in July 2024 and running through July 31, 2029. Candidacy is an early step and is not the same as full accreditation. Students can also explore study abroad opportunities and financial aid options.
